This Is Not a Textbook Spanish Class
At ¡Chao! Learn Spanish, we do not teach Spanish as a list of words to memorise. Students learn through meaningful communication from the very first lesson. The approach is based on natural language acquisition: songs, stories, games, role-play, movement, and real-life situations.
For children, this means learning Spanish the same way they learned their first language, through play and immersion. For teens and adults, it means building confidence, fluency, and practical skills with clear structure and guidance at every step.
Hispanic culture is woven into every lesson. Music, food, traditions, celebrations, and real-world social customs. Students do not just learn the language. They connect with the people and culture behind it.

Ivonne Vega is a native Colombian speaker with 16+ years of experience, a Bachelor of Education, and over 200 students taught across schools, private lessons, and corporate workshops. She is Blue Card approved and brings warmth, patience, and cultural richness to every lesson, whether your child is preparing for exams or you are learning your first words before a trip.

What happens in the free intro class?
Ivonne will get to know you or your child through interactive activities to assess your current level. She will discuss your goals and explain how lessons are structured. There is no obligation and no pressure.
Do you teach online or in person?
Both. In-person lessons are available in the Kelvin Grove area of Brisbane, typically held at the QUT Kelvin Grove Library or another agreed location. Online lessons are available to students anywhere in Australia via Zoom.
What age groups do you work with?
Ivonne teaches children (from young learners through to Year 12), teenagers, and adults. Lessons are adapted to each student’s age, level, and goals.
What if my child is a complete beginner?
That is perfectly fine. Many of Ivonne’s students start with zero Spanish experience. Lessons are designed to build confidence from the very first session, with a gentle and structured approach.
What exams do you prepare students for?
Ivonne prepares students for QCE Spanish, VCE Spanish, IB Spanish, DELE, and SIELE. She supports oral presentations, writing tasks, listening comprehension, grammar revision, and exam confidence.
How do you track progress?
Progress is tracked through lesson participation, practical activities, speaking confidence, listening tasks, and written work. For school students, Ivonne can provide informal feedback during the term and an optional end-of-term progress report if parents request it.
Do you teach Latin American or Castilian Spanish?
Ivonne’s background is Latin American Spanish (Colombian), but she teaches Spanish as a complete language. She explains the main differences between Latin American and Castilian Spanish, including variations in pronunciation, vocabulary, and verb forms, so students can communicate confidently across all Spanish-speaking contexts.
